It is a great place to read about global issues and what people are doing to help make the world a better place and provides teachers lesson plan on a number of grades and subject area.

The Lilly Endowment is based in Indianapolis, Indiana and exists to help people in Indiana to “build a better life.” It provides financial support and other resources for the cause of religion, education, and community development. While they focus on the hometown of Indianapolis, they will also on occasion fund international projects. The projects they support must, “benefit young people and promote leadership education and financial self-sufficiency in the nonprofit charitable sector.”

This is a professional development opportunity that gives K-12 classroom teachers and informal educators who are committed to geographic education a chance to bring geographic awareness to their classrooms. Those who are selected will travel abroad a National Geographic ship for an expedition to one of several destinations.
